David WILSON (WILLSON)(582) was born in Ireland.(180)
According to the Pike County History by Jess Thompson, the family was of Irish and French
Huguenot ancestry who fled France following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685.
Thompson says: "they, as did the early Lewises and Collards, found refuge in Ireland
where the various families sojourned for a long period of time."
David, his wife, and at least one son (James) came to America in 1808.
He was married to Nancy ELDER before 1793 in Ireland. (180) Note: There is a recorded marriage in South Carolina
in 1812 between a David Wilson and Nancy Elder. This raises questions about the inference
that David and Nancy were married in Ireland and about the mother of James and David Jr.
There is no other evidence they were in NC so this could be a coincidence of two people
with the same names.
Children were: James WILSON (WILLSON), David
WILSON.
James WILSON (WILLSON)(180) was born about 1793 in Ireland. He died about 1890

to Lincoln Co., MO. The Wilsons in MO were closely connected with the Sittons of TN, the
VA Lewises and Porters, the Cannons and Gibsons. The David Porters who settled in Pike
Co., IL were neighbors of the Wilsons in MO.
David was the first of this Wilson line to locate in Pike Co., IL. He crossed over in 1834
from Lincoln Co., MO in the midst of a howling December blizzard which set in shortly
after he left Union Twp. in Lincoln Co. In Pike County the Wilsons lived near Pleasant
Hill. Parents: David WILSON (WILLSON) and Nancy ELDER.

Annetje WOERTMAN(2) ANNETJE, known most commonly as Annetje Lodowycke, may
have been a half-sister to Dirck and Elizabeth, inasmuch as Lodowycke de Jong appeared as
sponsor to the baptism of Annetje's first child. Proponents of this theory point out that
the mother of the family, Harmitie, widow of Jans, probably married Lodowycke de Jong in
Holland and he probably sponsored the family, Elizabeth and Dirck, children of the first
marriage, and Annetje, his own daughter, in the move to America. It is fairly certain that
the mother came to America, but in all land transactions she is known merely as Harmitje
Jans. with Ledowicke never appearing in the picture. She lived to a ripe old age and owned
considerable property in Long Island and Brooklyn and died after 1685. This would make
Annetje born probably in 1636, half sister to the other two children. At her marriage in
1655, she names herself as "Annetie Loderwycks Van Amsterdam" (Annetje
Lederwycks of Amsterdam).
Annetje married 7 Aug. 1655 in New Amsterdam Dutch Church, SIMON CLAUSE (Claeszen Van (or
of) Groeningen; his will, made 8 July 1684 and probated 7 Oct. 1684, indicated that
Annetje had died before that time). They were residents of Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York.

Dirck WOERTMAN was christened
on 26 Nov 1693 in Brooklyn, Kings, NY. (2) He died
in Bushwick, NY. Married Elizabeth (born about 1696) and had children born in New
Brunswick, New Jersey: Anna Marie Wortman born 3 Feb. 1723; Dirck Wortman born 28 March
1725; Jacobus Wortman born 21 April 1727; (Note the move for a time to New Jersey).
Parents: Jan Derick WOERTMAN and Anna
Maria ANDRIES.
Dirick Jans WOERTMAN was born
about 1630 in Amsterdam, Holland. He died after 1706. Dirck Jans WOERTMAN (Richard, John's
son, WORKMAN), immigrated to America in 1647 and was unmarried at that time (the date
fixed when in 1687 he took the oath of allegiance at Brooklyn and stated that he had been
in the country 40 years).
Although known during this period simply as Dirck (Derick) Jans, in 1680 he resumed the
surname of Woertman and was known by it from then on. Just where he lived from 1647 to
1661 is not certain, but on 10 April 1661 he and his wife, Marrietje Teunis DE NYSE were
admitted to the Brooklyn Dutch Church. Just when the couple was married is not known, but
it was probably in 1660.
At this time and subsequently Dirck (Derick) owned property in Brooklyn and operated the
Brooklyn Ferry. The sale of this property took place in 1687. Dirck was made a town
officer in 1673 in Brooklyn.
Parents: John William WORKMAN/WOERTMAN and Harmtje (Hannah).
He was married to Marrietje Teunis DE NYSE on 10 Apr 1661. He was married to Annetje Auke VAN NUYS on 9 Apr 1691 in NY.(2) The date is actually from a prenuptial agreement that Dirck, as widower of Maritje Teunis, made with Annetje Aukes (widow of Wynant Pieters, daughter of Auke Jans VAN NUYS who emigrated in 1661 and made his will in 1694 naming his daughter Annetje as the wife of Dirck Jansen WOERTMAN). There were no children of this marriage.
Elizabeth WOERTMAN(2) was christened on 19 Sep 1699 in Somerville, NJ.(2) Parents: Jan Derick WOERTMAN
and Anna Maria ANDRIES.
Elizabeth Jans WOERTMAN(588) ELIZABETH JANS (or Woertman, daughter of John) born
about 1630. Her name is spelled variously in church records as Elizabeth, Lysbeth, Lysbet.
Her first recorded appearance in America was 7 July 1647 when she married Pieter Jansen
Noorman (born in Norway).
Elizabeth and Pieter were among the first settlers of the town of Bushwick, having
purchased 130 acres of land in that area, located on the East River. Elizabeth was living
on and acquired title to this property at the time of her husband's death. She and her
second husband made a joint will in 1688 giving the property to Teunis Woertman (son of
her brother Dirck Jansen Woertman) in whose family it remained until 1785 and became known
as the Woertman House.
Elizabeth married a second time 6 Oct 1662 at New Amsterdam Dutch Church, Joost Jansen
Cocquit (Cockuit or Kokhuyt; born at Brugge, Flanders, Belguim; recorded as emigrating
from Wieringen 27 April 1660, as a soldier on the ship Otter). Elizabeth, as a widow, 10
March 1694/5 executed a codicil to the joint will, indicating that Joost died prior to
that time. The will, proved 1 April 1695, made bequests to nephews and nieces indicating
that Elizabeth died without issue.
